In days gone by, one of the main routes from Cape Town to Swellendam crossed the Zonderendriver on the farm Vaandrighsdrift near Bonnievale. Here wagons had to camp for days waiting for the river to run down only to be confronted by a full Breede River 8km further on. This area was at that time inhabited by the San tribe the Hessequas of which very little is known.

Situated in a clearing within a riverside woodland is a bush camp comprising of nine "Hartebees Huisie huts" sleeping 30 and a fully equipped bush-kitchen lapa. We also have a well shaded camping site.

The "Hartebees Huisie" camp is ideal for all kinds of groups : teambuilding, bachelor parties, "bosberaad" school groups.

On-farm activities include, fishing, canoeing, hiking, cycling and bird watching. Whatever your needs, be sure Hessequas and it's people will spoil you.
